We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I wanted to quickly recap the day. As usual I will have to post pics a little later.
Charlie woke up asking about cookies. No, he wasn't just his usual hungry self...he was asking whether Santa ate the cookies we left for him. I think he was secretly hoping to get to eat them himself. However, he was very surprised to see only a few crumbs left! I think his little brain is still trying to process that Santa might have actually been inside our house. He totally understands that he gets to open presents but that's about it.
We opened presents and Charlie was quickly bored with his gifts and enthralled with Henry's baby toys. Henry was of course enthralled by the tissue paper and ribbon, except when Charlie took one of his toys and then all of a sudden he really wanted it. Ah, it's already beginning!
This afternoon we went to Mamaw & Papaw's house, where Charlie received his favorite gift--a classic big rocking horse on springs! It is HUGE! It makes real horse sounds and Charlie galloped and bounced and had a ball. He ended up naming the horse Flash. A very close second favorite gift has to be the Wiggles DVDs...he made us watch one in the car on the way home. He got all kinds of really great gifts but he's just a little young to appreciate them.
Our neighbor, Sandy Edwards, brought over gifts the other night and one of them was an old-fashioned sock monkey. Charlie has decided he loves this monkey. He named it Cha-Cha and now carries it everywhere. It's so cute! He also received a sock monkey Jack-in-the-Box from his Mamaw and he loves that too, although his little engineer brain figured out quickly how to make it spring out without turning the handle. Of course!
Henry had a very good day as well, because of course he got lots of attention. He started off the day by falling off of our very high bed, which scared me to death. (I somehow managed to never be around when Charlie fell off as a baby). But he didn't seem to be hurt. It scared Charlie too though, which was kind of sweet actually. Anyway Henry got lots and lots of great toys and clothes, and he is totally oblivious. He just scooted and rolled and pushed himself around all day, playing with whatever he could find. We dressed him in an adorable Santa suit and then a Baby's First Christmas outfit. Charlie got to wear a flashing Mickey Mouse Santa shirt and his cowboy boots, which he refused to take off all day.
All in all, a wonderful day with my wonderful family, and now we are all exhausted. The last week has been very hectic and stressful, but it seems all worth it when you watch everyone have a good time just being together. I hope you all had a good Christmas too! Now I'm off for sleep (before midnight!) and then off to after-Christmas sales tomorrow, woo-hoo!
