Last Friday was one of those idllyic days that I dreamed about when I negotiated my 4-day work schedule. The weather was warm, nobody was sick, and we got to play outside (twice!) and also hang out in the playroom. The boys had a blast and so did I! You will see that Henry discovered the Wiggles Big Red Car, which he "drove" all around the playroom, and Charlie discovered how much fun it was to put all the nets from the Elefun game on his head at once! (God forbid he actually play with a game as it was intended, nooooo, it's too much fun to take the netting on and off, and turn the motor on and off, and press the buttons on and off, on and off....)
Since Henry isn't walking yet, he mostly hung out in the wagon while we walked around the circle drive. Charlie got to do his share of pulling Henry which was great until the downhill parts when it got going a little too fast. No harm done! Charlie had to check out the stop sign, and of course he found a hole in the fence so he had to keep trying different sized sticks to see which would fit and which would not! Oh, and we had to hear about which of the outside lights he had turned on.
We had a lot of family in town last week but I did not do a good job of taking pictures of them. I get so wrapped up in capturing the boys' expressions that I forget I should take pics of everyone!! Sorry Aunt Amy, we will get some next time! Family time means Charlie got to see Max, his #1 favorite person in the entire world.
And have you ever seen anything cuter than a big-blue-eyed, snot-nosed, messy-faced 10-month-old shoving half a tortilla in his mouth?? Ha! He did have a good time with the tortillas. He was also showing us how he can wave now.
Speaking of Henry, he is learning new things constantly now, but still very very different from Charlie. He reminds us a lot of Charlie's friend Gage as he was going through these stages. Just tonight, Henry learned how to push himself along on the Towmater ride-on car. He's still tentative, but you could see the light bulb go on when he first pushed forward. He went all over the kitchen. Now Charlie, in contrast, was always way more interested in pushing all the buttons and making the sounds, and it took a while for him to actually get on and push himself around. Henry just wants to GO. We have also decided that Henry has said his first word, "Hi"! He repeated it several times last week and has since been doing this "Huh!" sound that I really think is "hi" because he responds with this huge grin if you say it back. We are counting it, anyway. He also loves to splash water, and tonight he totally cracked himself and me up by splashing into his face repeatedly and giggling so hard he bounced across the tub.
We had a very light snow a couple of weeks ago, so Charlie (and the dogs) got to play in it. It wasn't even sled-worthy, but he had fun anyway. Poor little Henry had to stay inside and was not happy about it!
Here are just some very happy pictures of them around bedtime one night. Charlie's "three more minutes" sometimes turn into a lot more! Charlie has been in a great mood lately and seems to want to learn more each day. He knows all of his letters and numbers and loves to repeat them and make the sounds. He is still all into his puzzles, and now blocks are making a comeback because he can actually build towers now. We discovered he can somehow use the past tense correctly, and he is starting to ask a lot of questions. "What this is?" "Where so-and-so is?" etc. He also asks to go certain places, mostly to "the basketball game", even though he knows it's over for this year. We started him back in gymnastics last week, and he loves it -- he has grown a lot since we were there last fall!
