Every Day Is A New Day

I haven't posted in a while so there is a lot to catch up on. Charlie is literally all over the place now, and somehow he manages to do more every single day. He is now pulling up with ease, walking back and forth between things while holding on, and he has learned to squat down to pick something up. To my delight, he has also learned to sit down if he starts to wobble (rather than just falling over which is my biggest fear). He stands by himself for a long time when he doesn't realize he's doing it, usually when he has a favorite toy in his hands. But if you try to position him that way, he won't do it. He has also learned to climb things and he goes after things constantly (like the wooden finial from our bed--why a piece of wood is so fascinating, I will never know). He can also crawl like a champ and goes between rooms all the time. Good thing we installed all those baby gates!

He has been battling thrush the last week or so. Apparently that is what made him very fussy last weekend when we thought (again) that he was teething. It seems to be better but it's still not completely gone. We now think we might possibly see two white spots on his gums, but then again, we could be imagining things. I think we are just anxious for him to get a tooth! I don't really know why.

Last weekend we went to Little Rock to visit his great-grandparents and also to visit Sabrina's new baby girl. Charlie had a good time playing with his family that he doesn't see too often. He loves Great-Mamaw, and Great-Papaw makes him laugh and laugh! They watched him while I visited a new little baby in the hospital at Children's...ironically named Jack Ryan. This new baby Jack has some of the same issues as our Jack but not exactly. I will link to his website so you can read more and add him to your prayer list.

Charlie finished up swimming lessons and even went underwater! I just can't believe he is able to do that. He didn't really like it, but it wasn't awful either. I think he likes the water and I'm glad we started him with lessons this young.

We also took Charlie to visit Jack's grave when we put out some new flowers. He was much more interested in the ducks. He had never seen ducks before! We will have to go back with some bread.

This weekend, Charlie got to spend some time with one of his favorite people in the world, his cousin Max. He lights up whenever he sees him. It is so sweet! We also took him to a concert in the park last week and he got to play with Gage and Sam. Charlie and Gage are just destined to be buddies--they already share (steal) toys, grab hair, grin at each other--all that best friend stuff!

Charlie seems so big to us now with everything he is doing. He has gotten very sweet and cuddly lately which is SO wonderful. He is eating a ton and weighs almost 19 lbs now. Favorite toys: the musical table (especially the banjo, which he dances to), the silver rattle, the wooden tart shaper from Pampered Chef, and the finial from our bed. Honorable mention goes to the Taggie ball and various teethers (not the ones we thought he would like). We figured it is time to put away the bouncy seats after he did this today...
