Baptism

Today was one of the best days ever! Charlie was baptized this morning, then we had a brunch at our house, then we laid down for a 3-hour nap (which NEVER happens). If he wasn't still sick, it would be a perfect day! Oh, and if the Cubs had only beaten the Cardinals....oh well....

We were a little nervous how he would do during the baptism because he is a little unpredictable. It was right in the time he would normally take a morning nap, and he's sick, and that just isn't a good combo. But he was a perfect angel. We got there early to take a few pictures, including one that is similar to a picture we took in the sanctuary on our wedding day--I plan to put them side by side.

He catnapped during the first part of the service, then woke up when we went forward for the baptism. He loves to people-watch, so he had a great time looking over the congregation and then checking out all the cool lights. He was quiet when they put water on his head (he's not so quiet in the bathtub) and then just hung out with the minister chewing on his thumb for the rest of it. We were proud! And he didn't even mess up his outfit!!! We plan to go back this week to get a few more pictures of him inside the church.

The brunch at our house went surprisingly well, because we had a lot of help and didn't try to do too much. How often do you have the perfect amount of food?? It was so nice to see everyone. We just don't see our friends as much as we would like!! It was also a great excuse to get our house in order, which was badly needed.

After all the commotion, Charlie needed a little "mommy time" so that's where the long nap came in. I love those moments where he's all snuggly with me. Now he is having some Daddy time too.

All in all, it was a great day! We are so blessed to have him. He is just perfect.
